Meet the coaches!

Sand Cats players are trained by some of the best youth development coaches in the area, overseen by Program Director/Coach Justin Viar.

Lashell Swann

Coach Lashell Swann has over 30 years of playing and coaching basketball on all levels, including her season as “Coach of the Year” for the CIF LA City Section Division II. She is currently Head Coach of the girls varsity basketball program at John Marshall High School in Los Angeles and an Assistant Coach for Occidental College’s women’s team. There she was part of the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year that led the Tigers to the 2024 SCIAC tournament championship and the NCAA tournament.

Coach Swann has also coached teams at North Hollywood High School, AAU Maryland, and Boys and Girls clubs in Washington DC, and played on the Washington Mystics WNBA Practice Squad.

Coach Aiden Williams serves as an Assistant Coach and Director of Basketball Operations at Occidental College’s Men’s Basketball program. Prior to that he was an Assistant Coach for Caltech Men’s Basketball.

On the court for Occidental, Williams holds the program record for career three-pointers made (200), where during his senior season he led the SCIAC in three-pointers per game, shot 43% from three on over 400 attempts, and averaged 14.7 points per contest.

Williams has mentored and coached over 50 young athletes as they transition into high school and college basketball.

Aiden Williams

Coach Miles Davis is on the player development team for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and has coached several youth basketball teams for clubs in East Los Angeles. He is also an inter scholastic coach at Marshall Fundamental School in Pasadena, working with several teams across multiple sports.

Davis played varsity basketball at Denison University, where he also worked part time as a strength and conditioning coach, eventually acquiring personal training and nutrition coaching certifications.

Davis enjoys helping any athletes improve their skills and have fun while doing it.
