WELCOME TO SAND CATS
YOUTH GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Sand Cats program teaches basketball to girls ages 7+ and features two club teams for ages 12u and 9u. Most of our players are from the Southern California areas of Glendale, La Crescenta-Montrose, La Cañada, Altadena, and Eagle Rock, with practices/clinics held at Glendale Community College.
Players are matched by ages and skill levels during practices, and our 12u and 9u teams participate against other SoCal club teams in weekend tournaments. Families may opt out of competitive play if their player is solely interested in skills training.
THE SAND CATS PHILOSOPHY
The SoCal Sand Cats girls basketball program is run by coach Justin Viar and a cycle of expert coaches with diverse specialities and styles.
The program is open to all skill levels, with training split to accommodate beginners through advanced players, and will maintain a maximum 10:1 player-to-coach ratio to guarantee individual attention.
The mission is enrichment beyond athleticism. In the Sand Cats program, girls will learn advanced skills in leadership, organization, comprehension, conflict resolution, and community building. We are developing more than just basketball players; we’re empowering young women ready to lead in any arena.
